Boston's Irene Solea offers Kirtan/live music classes in Denver, Colorado

Denver is quickly becoming a top U.S. location for Kirtan and Yogic music. Krishna Das, Deva Premal, Dave Stringer, Shantala, Wah! and many more have visited the Mile High City in the last year. Local Kirtan leaders including Scott & Shanti Medina, Vamadeva, Dakini Ma and Tom Fuhrmann are putting Colorado on the chant map.

An upcoming Boston-based Kirtan artist, Irene Solea, known very well on the East Coast, is back in Colorado following her summer 2011 appearance at Yoga Rocks the Park this week. She'll offer live music to accompany a yoga class with Jeremy Wolf and Asiana Harper at Friday Night Yoga Club on Friday, February 24 followed by a Kirtan. The next morning she'll offer a live music along with a 10:30 a.m. yoga class at Karma Yoga, Denver.

Irene Soléa blends traditional and non-traditional kirtan with soulfully dynamic vocals, urban and world rhythms in a band that has quickly rooted itself within the chant/kirtan world. She accompanies artists including Girish, Karnamrita Dasi and Mike Cohen and has been a featured artist at Kripalu (MA), Integral Yoga (NYC), Yoga Tree (SF), Denver's Yoga Rocks the Park (CO), Boston Yoga and Chant Fest and her homebase, South Boston Yoga. Trained as a jazz vocalist and music therapist, she was introduced to the heart-opening potential of Kirtan in 2000 and has been hooked ever since, offering concerts and workshops filled with love, laughter and devotion. The anticipated 2012 release of her second album --eight tracks featuring original melodies, lush vocal layers, and Pop/Soul, Latin and Reggae flavors-- comes on the heels of her now sold-out 2010 EP release.

Tickets for the February 24, Friday Night Yoga Club are $25/adv./$30 at the door (if space is available).

  1. Irene Solea is an absolute gem! She is always a big hit out here in the Northeast -- a voice like sweet nectar and a soulful expressiveness that you will fall in love with. A wallah to watch -- her time is coming. Watch for her new CD coming out soon, and DO make this show!

Thanks Eric, for including The Bhakti Beat's video of Irene playing with Joni Allen at the Boston Yoga & Chant Fest last July.
